Our band logo

Mothership - Logo

The main font of this is all in capital letters, with clear, big writing, this shows dominance and power as well as the shapes around the writing, the spikes coming out of the sides look intimidating and powerful, this is also bought across by the bold, red colour scheme. This links in with the name 'Mothership' because a mothership is the main ship, the powerful one, who is dominant and much force would be needed to even attempt bring it on. The space background also links with the name Mothership.

The song we picked is also partly Electronic in some places, this links in with the name 'Mothership' because it is a clear connotation as to what a spaceship or a real mothership would be like.

Todd also helped to design the logo.

Moodboard

This is the moodboard for our band and video. As our music video is going to be a performance video I included a lot of photos of band performances to give us ideas for when we make the video. The moodboard also has links to space and UFOs whihc links to our band name and logo. I also included a picture of our band logo. The moodboards also has a mix of coloured and black and white images to show the varied colours and effects we plan to use in our video. I also included pictures of other bands from the same genre so we can get costume ideas for the video.

Band Profile

We have decided to call our band 'Mothership.' The word Mothership is thought to be, for example, in a space battle, the biggest and most brutal ship to fight. Therefore our band wants to make powerful, assertive songs with high energy music videos.

Formation and members
'Mothership are an alternative rock/metal band from Leicester, England. They formed in 2011 and after touring vigorously for the last year have gained an underground fan base. They will be releasing their first single and music video soon. The band are fronted by Reynold Percy, who sings and plays the synths, with Stuart Wessex on guitar. Tom Mason plays the bass, and Callum Hardy completes the band on the drums.

Debut single
Mothership set up a twitter feed on the 5th of July 2012, in which the bio stated a new music video was coming soon. On July 7th 2012 they left a tweet 'Sitting down and going through ideas for our first video. Can't wait to show you!' As of now the song is untitled, but rumours suggest it may be one of live favourites 'Zzzonked' 'Rise and Shine' or 'The Tables Have Turned'

Song Choice

OUR SONG CHOICE IS 'ZZZONKED' BY 'ENTER SHIKARI.' We chose this song because we all listen to this band and this song frequently, and it is also relevant to our bands energetic and powerful style. We did not want to do a slow song because the end product may not be as good as it does not reflect what we listen to or our personalities, so we know less about making it.

Audience Profile

I used the website UK Tribes to find our particular audience.
Our audience is mostly young adult males, especially ones who enjoy going to high-energy gigs with fast, relatively heavy music. Here is an example of a fan of ours:
The average 'Young Alternative' teenager, they will associate themselves with these sort of brands and commonly listen to Green Day, Enter Shikari, Nirvana and Young Guns.
They also use the internet a lot and read a lot of magazines, this is to stay in touch with friends and what is happening in the world, as well as keeping up with their particular music scene - With magazines such as RockSound and KERRANG!

These 2 images show the amount of media consumption of Young Alternatives, this shows how often they use resources like the Internet and magazines. this gives an insight into how sociable they are and more connected with the online world and therefore the music industry. The second image shows what types of brands and media they like to be associated with, as you can see they are festival goers with the Reading Festival logo, and they are heavily involved in music, as KERRANG! NME and HMV are included.

Examples of other Texts

These are some Music Videos that we will be taking influence from and adapting some of the aspects within them. Enter Shikari - Destabilise This song is 'Destabilise' by 'Enter Shikari', we chose this because we seem to all like the band. The music video has a similar attitude to what we want to include in ours. Proxies - If I Had A Penny To My Name This is another song by 'Proxies' that we would like to take ideas from, this is because it is mostly a performance music video showing them playing live. We would use the performance elements as well as having a small storyline. The James Cleaver Quintent - Think Or Swim This is a song produced by 'The James Cleaver Quintet' that has influenced us into making a music video for a fairly heavy song, we will also be taking the ideas from their performance in this video.
