Props to be used in our Video

To create our music video we are going to use various types of props. As we are doing a video for a rock song we need to look like a rock band ourselves. To do this we will need instruments that rock bands use such as a guitar, bass, keyboard, microphone and drum kit. Each member of our band will then be assigned an instrumjent to play in the video. Finding these props will be easy to do as we all own at least of these instruments. Another prop that will be needed are amplifiers this will again make the band a lot more convincing and realistic. Other props we will be needing are things that you would typically find in a rock video such as empty cans and bottles in the background.

These are the props that are used in a lot of 'Enter Shikari's videos which is the artist of the song we are creating our music video for. As you can see from the clip below they rarely use any other props other than the ones mentioned above.

Clothing

This is a link to The singer of Enter Shikari's clothing line, he is often seen wearing clothes from this on stage. From the Enter Shikari set from reading 2012, embedded in this post, he is seen wearing the shirt that is displayed in this post, as well as chino shorts and White trainers. I, am acting as the singer in our video, so I will be wearing the same things as him to make it more realistic, so my image suits the song. The guitarist and bassist of the band in this video are seen wearing short sleeved button up shirts, with jean shorts on the guitarist and blue jeans on the bassist. The drummer is wearing a standard T shirt with shorts, but it is unlikely his legs will be seen in the video. We are basing our image on these specifications.

This is the shirt worn in the Reading and Leeds live video-as our video is performance we are basing our image on what the band wear when they play live shirts, I personally own this shirt, therefore I will wear it in the video.
This is a video taken from Enter Shikari'sset at Reading festival 2012, showing their clothing choices, as stated above.

Zzzonked - Enter Shikari Music Video

The song we chose has a current music video, it is filmed fully in black and white and was shot at a live gig, this allows the video to carry out the energy that the song would have in the live setting it was filmed at. We can take inspiration from this video as the band do many crazy things while performing so it would be good for us to use some of this high action movements to convey a sense of energy in our music video.

Inspiration

This is the tour poster for Enter Shikari's next tour, we are all attending this gig in December. This shows that our target market go to these events regularly so is proof of our choice of music and target market. The tour also gives us inspiration for the image of our band and watching live videos and seeing them live give us lots of ideas about how to make a live show look good and be energetic.

TOUR POSTER.

Twitter Feed

WE set up a band twitter feed and we will be updating this regularly. This use of social media is very common within the music industry today, bands will always use Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch with their fans, update them, release songs and generally provide information.

Feedback from our Pitch

The feedback we gained from presenting and pitching our ideas was mostly positive, it seems that our presentation gave the class a clear understanding as to what type of video we are going to do. And also gave us an incentive on the making of our video with what to include and what to not include. We will need to think about the preparation of our music video before we begin making it, this means we need to have a look at the things we will be needing such as Lighting, location and what instruments to include.

Looking at the feedback, all of the class new exactly what genre we are doing. Most put Rock/Electronic and others put just Rock, it is rock but they're not a generic sounding rock band. We also got feedback from what the style of the music video we are doing was, most of the class understood. I can see this as the feedback says "Energetic, Faced Paced, Loud" this is hopefully what our music video will turn our like and we want these to be the terms to describe our video, if they are we know that we are successful with the making of the video.

Furthermore, we asked a question as to what the class thought our target audience would be for our music video, the feedback we were given was what we are aiming for, "Mainly Male, aged 16-25, young adults and teenagers, hardcore gig goers". This is quite a good description of the target audience we picked, it would be suitable for teenagers and adolescents because many of them favour that type of music and genre and therefore wouldn't be appropriate for a middle aged man. The age range is also close as to what we would like it to be I'd say 16-25 year olds would enjoy it because of it's energetic sounds and fast paced beats.

A description to what our video will be like was given from our feedback, the class had the idea that it'd be a performance based music video. I know this as the feedback says "A performance based video with quick cuts and bright lighting to make it energetic, lively, manic and wild" this is what we want it to be like, although we are going to need to borrow or hire some lightening to give it these effects.

We wanted the class to give us an idea of the problems that we will face while making the music video in order to make it the best possible video that we can. Our feedback suggested the following: "You need to find a good location to film the video possibly a gig venue of some sort". We do have a place that we could use but it might be quite tight for space and therefore might need to hire a bigger one. Another piece of feedback that was given and need to think about whilst making the music video is Lip synching the fast lyrics along with the instrumentals.

The last question we asked the class was if they would watch it or not, most of the class said No as it was their favoured type of music genre and therefore was not their style although some thought having a video purely based on performance was a good idea. Others said they would watch our video due to it being their preferred music genre and that they would enjoy it.

Pitch

This is our pitch, we feel it went very well when presenting it to the class. Although it wasn't many peoples music tastes, we feel we got our intentions across very clearly and are expecting some good feedback. We will upload the feedback and see if we can make any adjustments according to the advice given from our classmates.
